In another devastating blow for the 22-year-old’s family, Steeman’s mother has also passed away after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest in her home in the Netherlands.

Race Sports activity reports that Steeman’s mom, Flora vehicle Limbeek, passed away at the age of 59 less than 48 hours after her own son’s tragic passing.

It’s been a particularly sad week for the motorsport world, with legendary British rider Phil Read also dying earlier within the 7 days.

The 83-year-old won eight world championships and 52 grand prix victories during a career that spanned from 1961 to 1975.

Both Read and Steeman were honoured at Phillip Island ahead of the Australian MotoGP, with the paddock uniting to pay tribute to the fallen stars.
