‘Absolutely saved his life’: Driver narrowly avoids death in F2 crash – Fox Sports

The halo is receiving well-deserved praised after saving the life of a Formula 2 driver on Sunday.

Roy Nissany can count his lucky stars after ending up underneath an opponents car following a second lap tussle.

Nissany ran wide on a turn before entering the track just in front of Prema’s Dennis Hauger, but as Hauger shifted inside to overtake Nissany shifted to the particular left forcing contact between the pair.

The collision forced Hauger off the track with a right tyre puncture that left his car skidding towards the next turn, unable to bring it under control or slow down.

As Hauger hit the particular corner, the sausage kerb launched their car off the ground and saw him skate across the particular front of Nissany’s vehicle.

If not for the halo being on the car, tributes would be flowing with regard to the 28-year-old. Instead both drivers walked away from the terrifying accident.

As the replays rolled, the commentators were thankful each drivers had been unharmed.

The particular halo was introduced to the Formula 1 world back within 2018 along with mixed reactions to its inclusion.

The safety device however has since received well deserved praise after multiple crashes came to the saving-grace associated with drivers.

Lewis Hamilton avoided serious injury at the particular Italian Grand Prix in 2021 right after a collision with Max Verstappen noticed the Red Bull land on top of Hamilton’s Mercedes.

“We can end the HALO discussion right now. It will save lives, ” tweeted 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg after seeing the images of Alonso and Leclerc’s crash.
